Kumihimo bracelet "karakumi" by Miwa Torii

This bracelet made by braiding cords method called "Kumihimo".
"Karakumi" means the chinese braiding method.

In Japan, braiding cords "Kumihimo" has been transmitted from China since about 8th century and developed as traditional craft and art.
Japanese people has used "Kumihimo" in many fields such as Buddhist altar articles, samurai armor, utensils for tea ceremonies.
Miwa Torii is a Kumihimo artist and creates Kumihimo works suited to the modern life with traditional technique.
